Beach details & current estimate
How the seasonal outlook works

Reviewed beach tendencies, shoreline exposure and the usual regional season form a starting estimate. Qualified reports from a similar time of year can adjust it. Source reliability and shared ancestry control their weight. Today’s wind, currents, alerts and photos are not projected into your vacation month.

April–October generally brings more regional sargassum, often with greater pressure in late spring and summer. November–February usually brings less. Individual years and sheltered coastlines differ. These are relative seasonal comparisons, not measured probabilities, tonnes or guaranteed beach conditions.

Knowledge checked 2026-09-15. Same-month outlooks share the same seasonal basis across years until new evidence changes it.

Sources and methodology

Which beaches are more likely to have sargassum in June?

Open Caribbean-facing beaches around Tulum and Cancún generally face more accumulation pressure during the regional season. Sheltered Cancún bay beaches, western Cozumel and Playa Norte on Isla Mujeres tend to have less under comparable regional supply. The planner compares relative amounts, including beaches where some sargassum remains likely.

Does Costa Mujeres have less than Cancún or Tulum?

The reviewed evidence supports lower usual amounts around Costa Mujeres and Punta Sam than on the exposed mainland coast. Cancún itself varies: Langosta, Tortugas and Caracol have different exposure from Delfines or Marlín. Storms can temporarily overturn the usual pattern.

Are Holbox and Isla Contoy seaweed-free?

Neither island is guaranteed clear. Reports describe lower usual accumulation around Holbox’s sheltered tips, with limited comparative evidence. Contoy’s visitor beach does not represent every island frontage. Seagrass and cloudy water are also different from sargassum.

When is the best time to avoid seaweed in Mexico?

Late autumn and winter generally have lower regional pressure than late spring and summer. A sheltered beach can still be a useful summer choice. Select your month above; compare the beach’s tendency and the available dated reports together.
